Communication Studies is the interdisciplinary study of language, media and culture. Laurier's program aims at a better understanding of the dynamics of communication in the context of contemporary media and culture. The department offers an honours degree, a combined honours degree in which Communication Studies is paired with another honours BA program, and a 3-year General degree. Students in these programs take courses from the Communication Studies core courses and electives from other disciplines, such as English, business, sociology, philosophy, et al. The curriculum provides students the opportunity to customize their education to match their academic interests and future goals. Standard offerings include interpersonal communications, mass media, critical thinking, cultural studies, and many more.
